Annual Fund donations support direct patient funding for all qualified applicants as well as general operational expenses. (Direct patient funding refers to paying verified creditors on the patient’s behalf.)

Charitable giving in America rose to $290.98 billion in 2010, reports this year’s edition of Giving USA. That figure represents a 3.8 percent growth over 2009, halting two consecutive years of philanthropic decline. GuideStar’s President and CEO, Bob Ottenhoff, noted “After two bad years, it is good to know that we’re starting to experience an increase, albeit a small one.”
Who Gave?
As has been true for decades, individuals gave the greatest portion of charitable contributions in 2010.
Individuals—73%, Foundations—14%, Bequests—8%, Corporations—5%
How does this relate to Mission4Maureen?
In 2010, donations by individual supporters accounted for 39% of Mission4Maureen’s total income! You read correctly! Nearly 40% of all funds came from supporters like YOU! Through giving to the Fill the Gap Annual Fund, participating in the May Days Drawing, giving at special church collections, searching and shopping through GoodSearch & GoodShop, giving through Facebook invites, and other various donations throughout the year, INDIVIDUALS made up a large percentage of our total income. This allowed Mission4Maureen to assist many new families. YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
However, Mission4Maureen’s work is ongoing. The Great Recession has hit many families hard. Quoting Bob Ottenhoff again, “The recovery is uneven and unfair. Some are doing quite well (corporate profits are better than ever; the stock market has regained 90 percent of its value since 2007), while others are suffering greatly (high unemployment; high mortgage defaults). In the nonprofit world, the recovery is also uneven depending on what your organization does.” What do we do?
